Bio
A thirty-five year commercial real estate veteran, William J. Hurwick is a principal of Cornish & Carey Commercial. Bill joined Cornish & Carey in 1980 where he managed the Palo Alto office for seventeen years. Under his direction the Palo Alto office became the most effective sales and leasing office in the company as well as among Cornish & Carey Commercial's competition in the Mid-Peninsula.
Bill has been actively involved in many of the transactions occurring in the highly valued Stanford Research Park and affiliated areas of the Silicon Valley during the days when these areas were little more than optimistic schemes. Through his extensive contacts with the Stanford Community as well as developers, owners and brokers throughout the Mid-Peninsula area, he has been a part of the development of this world-renowned business community.
Prior to joining Cornish & Carey, Bill started his real estate career with Coldwell Banker Company in their Palo Alto office, which he joined in 1969. He was awarded the title of Associate Vice President and was, at that time, the youngest recipient of that award. During his tenure at Coldwell Banker, he was also one of their top five sales people in the Santa Clara County region for nine consecutive years.
Since resigning, Bill’s activities in real estate are divided between brokerage and development, managing what he builds and owns through the WJH Group of which he is the principal shareholder.
Bill graduated from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History and received his varsity letter playing soccer there. Today he continues his athletic interests by playing golf as often as possible, as well as water and snow skiing. Bill and his wife, Diane, reside with their five children in their Los Altos Hills home.
