Bio
Prior to joining the Marcus & Millichap Self-Storage Division in 2012, Tom was vice president of operations at Pogoda Management Company for nearly 13 years. At the time, Pogoda Management was one of the nation's largest regional self-storage facility owners and operators.
Tom developed and implemented processes, procedures and programs to maximize efficiencies along with running the day-to-day operations of the company. One of his proudest achievements was working with the State of Michigan legislature in twice revising the Michigan Self-Storage Act.
Tom helped grow Pogoda Management from six self-storage properties to 34 owned and managed facilities totaling over 2.0 million square feet of rental space with 14,000 tenants. In addition, he was responsible for all operations at two manufactured housing communities with 300 residents in total.
Tom got his start in real estate at Modern Engineering, an international automotive engineering services company, where he was corporate facilities planning manager for 13 years. He leased, designed and built-out more than one million square feet of office and industrial space. He was also in charge of property management for multiple facilities totaling over 1.5 million square feet.
Tom has been a speaker at self-storage conferences and a contributor to industry trade publications.
