Thomas “Tom” H. Wenkstern is a Managing Partner and Chief Marketing Officer located in the Dallas office of Mohr Partners. In this role, he is responsible for:
coordinating the firm’s marketing and public relations activities managing the allocation of corporate resources and providing support to the firm’s offices outside of Dallas opening up new domestic offices and acting as the liaison with the firm’s overseas alliances supporting business development activities and overall management of the firm.
Tom has diverse career experience in corporate real estate, management consulting, outsourcing, investment banking, brokerage and transaction management, site selection and acquisition, development, and property and facilities management. Representative corporate clients include Owens Corning, Cooper Industries, Barilla Pasta, EDS, SC Johnson & Company, USAA, Citicorp, General American Life Insurance, and Bank of America.
Prior to joining Mohr Partners, Tom was a Senior Managing Director with Insignia/ESG where he was responsible for the creation, development, and management of the U.S. platform to provide corporate services with focus on increasing the number of strategic alliances and preferred provider relationships with major corporations on a global basis. Preceding Insignia/ESG, Tom was a Director in Global Consulting with Jones Lang LaSalle and Senior Vice President with Jones Lang Wooten. In these roles, he advised corporations on how to optimize the benefits from portfolio integration resulting from business combinations and supported an account team in the management of an exclusive service provider relationship with a Fortune 100 company.
As a Senior Manager in Real Estate Consulting with KPMG Peat Marwick in the early to mid 1990s, Tom advised diverse corporate, institutional, and private clients on a variety of real estate matters including business process reengineering of corporate real estate organizations and outsourcing, strategic planning, site location studies, transaction management, and bulk loan/asset sales. Tom commenced his career in corporate real estate as a Account Manager with Cushman Realty Corporation in Houston where he implemented advisory engagement with First Interstate Bank of Texas, N.A. with the goal of improving the institution’s profitability through better management of the corporate real estate portfolio within Texas.
After receiving an MBA from UCLA in Accounting and Finance, Tom became a real estate investment banker in Los Angeles with two nationally known firms, Sonnenblick-Goldman Corporation and George Smith Financial Corporation. In this capacity, he arranged in excess of $100 million in debt and equity financing for real estate projects for these national real estate investment banking firms. Projects included office, retail, industrial, apartments, and hotels. Tom solicited opportunities with real estate owners, prepared prospectuses and negotiated with financial institutions, insurance companies, and pension funds.
Tom’s undergraduate degree is from the University of Michigan in Business Administration. He is a licensed real estate broker in Texas and is a frequent speaker at corporate real estate industry meetings such as CoreNet, Tradeline, and Realcomm.
