As Chairman and Co-Founder of Arroyo & Coates, Thomas Coates oversees the firm's operations and strategic development. He founded Arroyo & Coates in June 1988 as an investment real estate brokerage firm focusing on California's largest income producing properties.
Prior to founding Arroyo & Coates, Thomas was Vice President of Investments for Marcus & Millichap, Inc, one of the nation's largest real estate brokerage firms, for eight years. He earned Top 10 honors throughout most of the 1980s, and was the number one producer for five years, with annual sales averaging $60-80 million. In 1986, Thomas was awarded the highest Marcus & Millichap honor by being named the company's first Vice President of Investments, a position reserved only for the firm's top producing agents. Upon his departure from Marcus & Millichap, Thomas was the largest producing sales agent in the company's history. He also played a significant role in the success of the firm's college trainee program where college graduates spend one year working closely with a top producing agent in preparation for becoming agents themselves.
Thomas earned his Bachelor's of Arts degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
