Thomas Buist is a Broker at Lee & Associates Charleston with an industrial, land, and investment specialization. Thomas has a multi-decade career in the industrial and commercial real estate industry with additional expertise in coastal and inland ports, 3PL, bulk commodities, intermodal, and land acquisition/assemblage.
Thomas received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate from the University of South Carolina in 1989. Thomas is a past licensed Real Estate Appraiser and worked for Grubb & Ellis/Barkley Fraser as a Principal, Land, and Industrial Broker as well as for NAI as a Senior Broker and Industrial Specialist. Thomas’ vast experience has mainly been in the tri-county area of Charleston, SC but he also has multi-market experience having done previous Client work in Georgia, North Carolina and outside of the tri-county area of South Carolina (Particularly Dillon, SC and Orangeburg, SC). Thomas earned his SIOR designation from the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors in 2008. Thomas was awarded REALTORS® of Distinction in 2013, 2014, and 2015 and CoStar Power Broker in 2014. Thomas also earned Lee & Associates Broker of the Year in 2014 and 2018.
Thomas is a dedicated member of his community, previously serving as the Development Committee Chair on the Executive Committee of Trident Technical College Foundation Board of Trustees. Thomas is a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and Carolina Yacht Club. Thomas enjoys industrial, land, and investment sales and has experienced market knowledge of Charleston. In his free time, Thomas enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening and fishing.
