Steven L. Karas is the principal and founder of Karas Realty Advisors, Inc. Mr. Karas began his career in 1973 with The Kroger Co., Michigan Marketing Area. He remained in the position of Real Estate Manager until 1978. He was responsible for negotiating new store leases for over forty (40) locations, the subletting or sale of fifteen (15) excess properties and twenty-four (24) store expansions. In addition, he was responsible for all lease administration.
In 1978, he joined Ramco-Gershenson, Inc as Vice President of Leasing. His responsibilities included the leasing of the company-owned properties in Michigan and Florida, such as enclosed malls, discount centers, neighborhood supermarket anchored developments and food courts.
In 1985, he co-founded Ludwig and Karas, Inc., which became one of the premier brokerage firms in Michigan. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer until founding Karas Realty Advisors, Inc. in July of 2001.
Mr. Karas is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and has served on panels and as a speaker on numerous occasions. He is an active member of The National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives and The Urban Land Institute. He has served in numerous community organizations and has been on the Board of Directors of publicly traded companies. A member of Realty Resources, Inc. - a national affiliation of commercial real estate brokerage firms - Mr. Karas served as President from 1998 to 2000. He also served on the Executive Committee for eight (8) years.
Mr. Karas is a graduate of Michigan State University. He received his M.B.A. in finance from Wayne State University in 1980.
