Bio
Stephen Fitzmaurice has over 30 years of experience running commercial buildings ranging in size from 300,000 square feet to over 1.5 million square feet. He began his real estate career in New York City working for Helmsley-Spear, Inc. before moving on to work for Hilton Hotel Corporation, first as the Building Superintendent at the Waldorf-Astoria, and later as the Director of Property Operations at the New York Hilton and Towers. Relocating to Buffalo in 1989, Steve worked as the Director of Engineering at Hyatt Regency Buffalo before becoming the Property Manager at One HSBC Center, the largest privately owned office building in New York State outside of New York City. Subsequently, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and acquired his New York State real estate license. At One HSBC Center he was responsible for the overall operation of the building including bringing in new tenants and renewing leases with existing tenants. Over the years, he produced over 150,000 square feet of new leases and lease renewals. Steve is a graduate of both the Hotel School at Cornell University and University of Buffalo's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Core program. He has served on various boards, most recently as a Director at Buffalo Place from 2002 through 2014. Steve is passionate about his career in real estate and enjoys sharing that with his community from the numerous development projects he is involved with in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, to teaching as an Adjunct Professor in the Real Estate Development master's program at SUNY Buffalo. The scoop on Steve: When Steve isn't working, he enjoys everything the four seasons in Buffalo have to offer including running, cycling, golfing, skiing, and snowshoeing, along with spending time in the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks with his wife, Nancy. When he's indoors he searches for the perfect Cabernet or single malt scotch. He's also a participant in the Big Brother program.
