As President of Eugene Burger Management Corporation (EBMC), Stephen Burger oversees the company’s management of apartment communities, community associations, office buildings shopping centers, self-storage facilities and manufactured housing communities as well as personally handling various corporate responsibilities. Mr. Burger is directly responsible for management services provided in all regions, supervision of district managers and several property managers employed by the company.
Following the company's training philosophy, Mr. Burger has completed the required course work to obtain the Certified Property Manager (CPM®) and Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM®) designations which have enabled him to advance to the pinnacle of the property management profession. In addition, Mr. Burger is a real estate broker and has completed numerous educational courses and educational offerings specific to the real estate management profession.
From 1980 to 1988 Mr. Burger lived and worked in Reno where he was responsible for operation of the company's Northern Nevada portfolio of properties and also supervised managers in Las Vegas and Grass Valley. Ultimately, he oversaw all of EBMC's Nevada, Arizona and Colorado properties prior to relocating to the company's headquarters in Marin County near San Francisco in 1989.
Mr. Burger has hands-on experience in all phases of property management as well as professional-classroom training. As a Certified Property Manager, he has served as Treasurer and Vice President for the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Northern Nevada/Tahoe Chapter and as President of the Northern Nevada Apartment Association. In 1997, Mr. Burger served as President of the San Francisco IREM Chapter representing over 300 CPMs and in 1998 the Chapter presented him with the Certified Property Manager of the Year award. Mr. Burger has also served as Chairman of the Accredited Management Organization® (AMO) Committee of IREM representing over 600 of the nation’s top management companies.
Mr. Burger has participated in the development of many the company’s current management policies and procedures including implementation of property management software and email systems used throughout the company. Mr. Burger has organized numerous company-training workshops and provides training to management staff individually and in-group sessions.
