Sam Holmes, one of six Vice Chairman with CB Richard Ellis worldwide, oversees the firm’s Atlanta office brokerage and corporate services operations. He represents clients such as CompuCredit, T-Mobile, Synovis, Arcapita, Arby’s, Internet Security Systems, Kroger, and Norfolk Southern.
A lifetime member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club, Holmes and his partner John Shlesinger have been consistently ranked as the city’s Top Tenant Representation team. On four occasions he and Shlesinger were named the Top Office Leasing Brokers in the city. In 2000, Holmes and Shlesinger received the Alvin B. Cates Deal of the Year award. In 2006, they received the Office Deal of the Year award. On 11 occasions, Holmes and Shlesinger have been one of the “Top Five” office leasing producers in Atlanta.
Holmes is regularly listed in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Who’s Who in Commercial Real Estate” and was named one of the Top Business Leaders in the under 40 category by the same publication. Additionally, he has been nationally recognized for his success in Commercial Property News (“Hot Brokers,” March 1997, 1998 and 2002), and Real Estate Forum (“Top Ten Tenant Rep Brokers,” January 1996 and 1999 and “Rising Stars in Real Estate,” 1995). Holmes received the “2003 Power Broker Award” by CoStar Group, an award which recognizes the country’s top brokers.
Before joining CBRE, Holmes was with Insignia/ESG, where he helped grow the firm’s Atlanta presence during five years to become the city’s top office brokerage firm. He began his real estate brokerage career with the Atlanta office of Cushman & Wakefield, specializing in representing companies with their real estate space requirements. Holmes became that firm’s youngest ever Senior Director and consistently ranked within the top five percent of brokers nationally. Additionally, he and Shlesinger were the first recipients of the National Quality Service award, which was given to the brokers who received the highest service ratings from their clients.
A graduate of the University of Georgia, Holmes serves as Chairman of the University of Georgia Real Estate Foundation and is on the Boards of the University of Georgia Foundation Trustees, the Terry College of Business of the University of Georgia, Flag Bank, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Buckhead Christian Ministry, Mansell Group, and the Northside United Methodist Church where he serves as a Chairman of the Stewardship Campaign. Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Sam to his Commission for a New Georgia as a member on the State’s Capital Construction Committee. He is active with CoreNet and Leadership Georgia, and coaches youth basketball and baseball in his free time.
