In 2013, Dr. Samuel P. Cimino, retired after more than 43 years of practice in Concordville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Cimino graduated from South Philadelphia High School class of 1956, proceeded on to LaSalle College in 1960, and to Temple University School of Dentistry in 1964. He joined the Naval Reserve Officers Program while at Temple and upon graduation was sent to the Boston Naval Shipyard. From there, he was sent to the U.S.S. Lake Champlain, an aircraft carrier stationed off of Newport, Rhode Island. In 1967, after returning from active duty, Dr. Cimino was retained in the Naval Reserve as the dental examining officer at the Naval Reserve Center in Folsom. Dr. Cimino served 30 years in the Naval Reserve and transferred to the retired reserve with the rank of captain in 1991. During his entire tenure he served with the distinction in varied assignments, the most notable included Commanding Office Naval Reserve Dental Center, Naval Reserve Training Unit, Commanding Officer Civilian Military Contingency Hospital System, Administrative Unit, all at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital and received several awards for service. His professional awards include fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentists, the Federation of Dentists International and the Pierre Fuchard Academy. Dr. Cimino is a past board member and Past President of the Chester and Delaware County Dental Society, and Past President of the Southern District Dental Society, Philadelphia. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and American Dental Associations. Dr. Cimino served as an initiator for the Dental Hygiene Program at Harcum College, was a chairman of the Dental Advisory Board for ten years, and now serves as a member of the College Board of Trustees. He also serves on the Temple University Dental Alumni Board. Dr. Cimino was past officer of the Parkinson Opera Foundation and Past President of the Dante Alighieri Lodge 1777, Order of Sons of Italy. He is currently President of the Historic Twelfth October Lodge, 486. He has been a member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, Order of Sons of Italy for 35years. Dr. Cimino married Patricia Hall of West Philadelphia in 1974. They have a son, Mario, who is an Environmental Scientist.
