Ryan Clayton’s interest in real estate is lifelong and his hands-on experience with commercial real estate investing began when he was just 17 years old. As an intern for Avison-Young, he gained a broad understanding of the dynamics that drive real estate values and the process of underwriting potential acquisitions. He was integrally involved in assembling and evaluating due diligence information, including title, tenant estoppels, structural elements, environmental issues and zoning and regulatory compliance.
Ryan went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Known for his competitive spirit, he was also a member of UCSB’s nationally ranked men’s volleyball team.
No stranger to hard work, Ryan has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. Since he was a small boy, he has been actively involved in helping his grandfather run the family avocado farm in Temecula. He still visits the property several times a month to help tend to 25 acres of avocado trees and assist with the annual harvesting of approximately 30,000 pounds. That experience will serve him well in the years to come, as hard work and long hours are required for success in commercial real estate.
