Background
Inspired by the principles of “sustainability” and the opportunity to build a new business practice at CBRE, Ron Monat launched the beginnings of the Renewable Energy Group in early 2009. National, state and local incentive programs were being formulated to stimulate this exciting new growth area and CBRE had much to contribute. The City of Phoenix, in particular, expressed ambitious aspirations to become the “Silicon Valley of Solar” and began to aggressively recruit energy technology and manufacturing companies from around the country and around the world.
Mr. Monat brings a wealth of experience in business and brokerage to his current assignment. He has over 30 years experience in sales and marketing with Fortune 500 companies. His business background spans numerous industries including commercial real estate, consumer products and technology. Mr. Monat has managed a wide range of national businesses for corporations such as General Mills, Warner-Lambert, International Playtex and GlaxoSmithKline.
During his brokerage years in multi-family at Marcus & Millichap, from mid-2004 to early 2008, Mr. Monat closed almost $180 million in transactions affecting approximately 2,000 apartment units and setting several notable records in Arizona:
The highest price ever paid for a multi-family property ($79.6 million)
The highest price per unit ever paid for a 100+ unit property ($227,429)
The largest condo conversion project ever sold in the state (660 units)
Mr. Monat has always integrated his entrepreneurial and creative interests with his disciplined corporate and analytical assignments. His undergraduate degree from Boston University and his MBA from Columbia University helped hone his financial and marketing skills. Ron’s Pentagon assignment while in the U.S. Army incorporated leading edge computer simulation modeling and helped earn him The Army Commendation Medal.
