Bio
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Rolland attended The University of California at Berkeley and is a graduate of The American Institute of Banking.
Rolland was the Director of Real Estate for the Valu-Mart division of Weisfield, Inc. He has received "Top Salesperson" awards while at Grubb & Ellis Commercial Brokerage Company and was listed in the "Who's Who in Real Estate & Development" by the Puget Sound Business Journal. Rolland was a Managing Director, Partner & Designated Broker of Terranomics Retail Services from October 1991 through August 1998, and was the Designated Broker of the Seattle, Washington, office of Staubach Retail Services as well as the Principal Broker for their Portland, Oregon, office.
Among his many accomplishments, he was instrumental in the development of Pickering Place in Issaquah, Washington, which Shopping Center World Magazine referred to this project as the world's first "Power Park." The project had failed as an office park and was successfully converted to retail. He has continued to represent Barnes & Noble since 1992, and not only spearheads their location searches in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, but also is a part of their strategic planning as well as handles their lease renewals. The client recognizes this market as one of their most successful. Rolland received CoStar's 2009 Power Broker Award.
Rolland has successfully completed 13 lease transactions for Pier 1 Imports in Washington and Oregon. Rolland's efforts speeded Staples entry into the Washington and Oregon markets, with over 30 transactions in 4 years. He saved Gene Juarez Salons over $410,000 in one transaction. Rolland obtained $609,000 in tenant improvement allowance for a 7,000 square foot Coldwater Creek, enabling them to utilize the additional unexpected $259,000 in funds for other needs.
In addition to the millions of square feet of retail, developed, leased and sold, Rolland is active in the International Council of Shopping Centers, serving for three years as its Washington State Retail Chairperson, and recently served as Chairman for GVA Retail nationwide.
