Robert E. Buchanan is a third generation builder/developer, and he has been involved in office, industrial and large mixed-use planned residential communities in the Washington metropolitan region since 1970. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Independence Air/Fly I, The Washington Airports Task Force, The George Washington University Virginia Campus Advisory Board, and the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission (former Chairman). He is a Trustee for the Greater Washington Initiative. Buchanan also has served as President of the Eisenhower Avenue Public/Private Partnership in Alexandria, Virginia and on the Boards of Directors of USLICO Corporation, the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA), the Northern Virginia chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP). Buchanan has participated as a member of the Council of Governments, Partnership for Regional Excellence and is a founding member of the Loudoun Partnership and the Ballston Partnership. In 1987, he represented the Loudoun landowners in structuring the Route 28 Tax District and served as vice chairman of its Advisory Board. He is a former Trustee of Landon School in Bethesda, Maryland. He earned his B.A. from Yale University in 1964.
