Bio
Born in El Paso, Rick is a fourth-generation Texan whose grandfather founded the Lone Star Brewing Co. in 1940, where Rick began his career in advertising and marketing after attending the University of Texas in the early 70s. Four years later, Rick had the opportunity to acquire a fastener manufacturing and distribution company in Houston during the oil boom, which he owned and managed for 10 years before selling. Rick’s father and brother had founded Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty in 1972, and Rick joined the company in 1986 as VP of Marketing, transferring into sales three years later. Within four years he earned #1 salesman out of 8,000 agents in San Antonio and continues today to consistently rank as a top broker in the city. Rick acquired the company in 2007 and is President and CEO. Under his leadership, along with his eldest son, the company has grown to 380 agents with 11 offices in San Antonio, Boerne, New Braunfels, and Austin, with annual sales averaging $2 billion. Furthermore, Rick has diversified the company into commercial real estate and developer services. This area is poised to become one of the fastest-growing areas of the company driven by explosive growth in the San Antonio and Austin areas. Rick is committed to giving back to the community through his dedication of time and resources to many fundraising causes. He was named “Man of the Year” in 2009 by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, serves as Chairman of The Harry Jersig Center for Communications Disorders community resource board at Our Lady of the Lake University, and is a member of the Texas Cavaliers, a non-profit organization which raises and donates over a million dollars a year to numerous needy organizations.
