Richard T. (Dick) Hudgins, MAI, and his wife Cheryl reside in Fort Bend County. Dick graduated from Wharton High School, attended Wharton County Junior College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Texas A&M University. Dick is an instrument rated private pilot and an advanced open water scuba diver.
Dick holds the MAI appraisal designation through the Appraisal Institute and is a State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser. He is also a licensed Real Estate Broker with the State of Texas. Hudgins has testified as an expert witness for property valuation at Appraisal District Review Board Hearings, Right Of Way Condemnation Hearings, in County Court, District Court, Federal Bankruptcy Court, and in IRS tax appeals. Although experienced in the appraisal of many different types of commercial real estate; Hudgins is recognized for his expertise in the appraisal of undivided interests in taxable estates in forming a value basis for property gifts, family limited partnerships, and estate taxes. As a broker, Hudgins is experience is farm & ranch, commercial, and residential. He obtained his Salesman license in 1973 and brokers license in 1978. Dick appraises and brokers property throughout the state of Texas.
His community service has included serving as past president of the Rotary Club of Wharton of which he was Rotarian of the Year in 2013 and is a two-time Paul Harris Fellow.
Dick is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo(tm). He is a Lifetime Vice President of the Show, serves on the Board of Directors, is past chairman of the Speakers Committee, past chairman of the Armed Forces Appreciation Committee, and was co-chairman of the Task Force organizing First Responders Appreciation Day for the 2016 Show. He is now serving his 45th year as a committeeman with the Show.
In addition he has served as a former Wharton City Councilman, past chairman of the Wharton Planning Commission, and as a former Wharton County representative on the Airport Advisory Board of the Houston-Galveston Area Council. He is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians, and the Sons of the American Revolution.
