Education
Mr. Orowetz holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (1970) and completed all of the course work towards a Masters Degree from 1975 to 1978. He has been a registered professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1975 and has held his real estate brokers license in Pennsylvania since 1988. Mr. Orowetz has attended Paralegal Certificate courses at Penn State’s Pittsburgh Center in addition to the required continuing education classes required to maintain his broker’s license.
Background & Experience
Built on a technical background, Mr. Orowetz’s experience spans multiple areas of service. Prior to joining NAI Pittsburgh Commercial in the spring of 2005, Mr. Orowetz was president of Raymond Charles & Associates, Incorporated that he founded in 1990 after five years with K. Goldsmith & Co., Inc. Before entering the field of commercial real estate, Mr. Orowetz worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation upon graduation followed by a twelve (12) year stint with Pullman Swindell / RUST International initially as a structural engineer and then as an assistant in business development for the Civil Works Department.
With his broad base Mr. Orowetz has been able to systematically and efficiently provide those he’s represented with the level of service expected from a professional advisor. Representative clients include Gannett Fleming, Verizon Wireless, Cricket Communications, Interim HealthCare, Pennoni Associates, Inmedius, Tobe Financial Services, American Excelsior, Reliable Appliance Installation and Crown Battery in addition to building owners, developers and investors.
His brokerage and engineering expertise combined have allowed him to provide site acquisition services for freestanding telecommunications towers, monopoles and rooftop installations for Verizon Wireless since 1994. He was instrumental in negotiating a long-term lease for Cricket Communications’ switch facility commensurate with their initiation of service in Pittsburgh in 2001 and has worked on behalf of Crown Castle.
Mr. Orowetz is a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors and the Realtors Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh. He is a charter member and past president of the Civil Engineering Alumni Club of the University of Pittsburgh and since 1997 to the present has continuously served as a member of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department Board of Visitors.
