Bio
An undisputed leader in the industry, Paul J. Amrich, Vice Chairman in the New York City Advisory & Transaction Services Group, combines marketing intelligence and an incisive understanding of his clients’ goals to consistently achieve outstanding success in leasing and repositioning properties. With 21 years in the business, Mr. Amrich joined CBRE in 2006, after beginning his career at Cushman & Wakefield in 1996.
Mr. Amrich’s expertise lies in forging and nurturing alliances with the many landlords and financial institutions he serves. He has completed more than 15 million square feet of leasing transactions, and currently successfully represents more than 13 million square feet of Class A office space on behalf of New York’s premier landlords.
Mr. Amrich was promoted to Vice Chairman in January 2012, making him the youngest Vice Chairman in the firm’s history. He has been included in the prestigious Colbert Coldwell Circle—the Top 100 Global Producing Professionals—every year since his arrival at CBRE in 2006. In the last seven years, he has been one of the top 25 producers nationally at CBRE.
A few of Mr. Amrich’s recently completed deals include the 389,500-sq.-ft. 30-year lease for New York University on behalf of Columbia Property Trust and the 99,000-sq.-ft. 15-year lease for Palantir Technologies in the Meatpacking District on behalf of Rockpoint Group and Atlas Capital—a unique opportunity in that the property was a functioning parking garage until 2014, when the space was developed into a premier office building. Mr. Amrich and his team toured the client through the site prior to the redevelopment, securing Palantir as the anchor tenant for the entire asset. Additionally, since 2012, he has been an integral part of the repositioning of 1411 Broadway on behalf of Callahan Capital Properties and Ivanhoé Cambridge. The project was recently completed with great success, driven by the implementation of a large capital improvement program and more than 250,000 sq. ft. of new leases.
While at Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Amrich was named one of New York City’s 2005 CoStar Power Brokers for office leasing. In 2005, for the third time in four years, he received the company’s Strategic Agency of the Year Award for leasing more than 700,000 rentable sq. ft. within nine months at Grand Central Square (485 Lexington Avenue/750 Third Avenue) for SL Green Realty Corp. In 2004, he received the award for leasing more than 400,000 rentable sq. ft. within 18 months at 2 Grand Central Tower on behalf of Macklowe Properties; this achievement exceeded Ownership’s expectations and resulted in savings of $12 million, due in part to 30% of the transactions being in-house deals. He first received the citation in 2002 for being the lead broker in the successful lease-up at 1370 Avenue of the Americas, a 350,000-sq.-ft. Class A office tower, which led to the disposition of the property and resulted in a 150% return on investment to Ownership. In addition, he was awarded a client commitment award in 2001 for successfully brokering 700,000 sq. ft. of 9/11 disaster recovery space on behalf of The Bank of New York.
Mr. Amrich is often tapped by the media, including Bloomberg and the New York Times, to offer his unique insight on the commercial real estate market. He regularly lends his expertise to industry panel discussions, including the CBRE New York Office’s quarterly media updates, and has been profiled in leading industry publications such as the Commercial Observer and The Real Deal, most recently in June 2016.
