R. Otto Maly is currently Chairman of Maly Commercial Realty. He founded the company after 10 years at The Kroenke Group, one of the nation’s leading and most-respected real estate development companies.
Maly, a Missouri native with over 30 years of experience in real estate and business development, is also the President and Director of Special Projects of Kroenke Holdings. He also serves as the Chairman of Bluebird Network, a company he co-founded that delivers broadband access to rural communities in Missouri and Illinois.
Mr. Maly formerly served as Vice-President of Development at The Kroenke Group. During his tenure at The Kroenke Group he was instrumental in spearheading dozens of multimillion dollar deals, including a partnership with Riverpark Construction that led to the completion of a 135,000 square foot Sam’s Wholesale Club in 57 days in Dallas, Texas. The project created hundreds of jobs for the community.
In his role at Kroenke Holdings, Mr. Maly now oversees and manages the day-to-day operations of the Kroenke Holdings companies. Bluebird Network is a provider of broadband infrastructure that has partnered with the State of Missouri through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Through this partnership Bluebird Network is providing broadband access to underserved communities and rural areas throughout Missouri and Illinois.
Mr. Maly is active in the Columbia community, where he currently resides with his wife Stella and their two children. He is a member of his alma mater’s strategic development board for the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. School of Business at the University of Missouri and is a former member of the school’s finance advisory board. He also currently holds a position on the advisory board of the Jeffrey E. Smith Institute of Real Estate in addition to being a member of the University of Missouri’s Herbert J. Davenport Society.
Additionally, Mr. Maly has been a member of the Columbia Independent School’s Board of Trustees since the school’s inception in 1998, and was instrumental in the school’s founding. He is a member of the Steven and Barbara Fishman Center for Entrepreneurship Center advisory board at Columbia College, which created and oversees an angel investor network that fosters free enterprise and business creation at the collegiate level. He was recently elected by members of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association to serve on their Board of Directors. Mr. Maly also serves as a member of the Philanthropic Advisory Board of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
