Monique Anderson Walker, MSRE is the Principal Broker of Fleur de Lis, LLC Commercial Real Estate Brokerage and Development Advisory Services in Oxon Hill, MD. During her 25-year real estate career, she has become known as an effective negotiator in representing international, national, and regional corporations with commercial expansions into the metropolitan area. She facilitated the commercial expansion of British-based First Transit into an industrial site, and she was successful in bringing the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Outpatient Clinic to Prince George’s County, MD, as well as bringing a residential behavior health campus to the County. Her development advisory services have been utilized by medical corporations, vehicle dealerships, homebuilders and faith-based associations. She is resolute in adding value by repositioning, infill redevelopment and by creating assemblages and predevelopment of parcels. In addition to being an established businesswoman, Monique Anderson Walker competes in US Master Swimming and is a life-long community servant, having served as an elected member of the Prince George's County Council (2018-2021), where she led initiatives in health and education, and economic development. She established Prince George's County's Vision Zero Plan #DRIVINGITHOME (2019)to change driving culture and save lives on the roadways, as well as a Prescription Assistance Program (2020)to assist un-insured, under-insured, and those in need of co-payment assistance to manage their chronic illnesses during COVID-19. Moreover, she collaborated with World Central Kitchen to provide produce and hot meals for families and front line workers during the two year COVID crisis. Monique also served as lead sponsor on legislation related to environmental controls to prevent flooding and protect our tree canopy and health through legislation to study flood prone areas, reduce impervious surface by reducing development in flood prone areas, as well as legislation to permanently close a south county land fill. Monique Anderson Walker's passion for fair and equitable housing led her to introduce and advocate for equitable accessibility and visitability in housing through Universal Design legislation standards in new housing construction.. She has assumed several leadership roles to strengthen the community through The Prince George’s County, Maryland Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, Community Foundation in Prince George’s County and St. Ann’s Center for Youth, Families and Children also in Prince George’s County. In her membership and board positions, she puts her energy into improving the quality of life for students, returning incarcerated citizens and veterans, as well as workforce training and safety net support for families in need. Her leadership as co-chair since 2008 of Links at the Legislature, sponsored by the Prince George’s County Links has brought her many accolades for planning a day for representatives from all segments of the population to advocate for health and education bills positively impacting the lives of children in the State of Maryland. The efforts over the past 17 years have led to 25 House Bills being passed into law including, the Center for School Safety and Sex Trafficking Legislation. The daylong program has received recognition from the Maryland General Assembly, and has been awarded Best Practices within The Links, Incorporated. Monique Walker holds a Master of Science Degree in Real Estate Development from Johns Hopkins University; a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Howard University; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies from Emory University, where she held leadership roles and swam on the Emory University Swim Team. Immediately after college she worked in public television – WHMM-TV, now WHUT-TV, where she produced “Spotlight”, the Howard University student news program. She also worked in public radio – NPR’s Foreign News Desk and co-hosted a public affairs television program on a Fox affiliate in Minneapolis, MN. Mrs. Walker is married to The Honorable Jay Walker, former delegate in the Maryland General Assembly from the 26th Legislative District, and they reside in Fort Washington, MD where they raised their three children.
