Bio
Delaware Hotel Group was founded by Mike Khatiwala in 2001. Mike began his dealings in the hospitality industry at an early age working in the family business which purchased their first hotel in 1982 the Journeys’ End Motel in West Atlantic City, NJ, the Khatiwala Family experienced much success with this property and went on to Joint Venture acquiring many other smaller motel properties. In 1997 with the retirement of Mike’s father, Ramesh Khatiwala, the family liquidated all of their hospitality assets. In 2001 with Mike’s growing interest in returning to the hospitality business the Khatiwala family once again entered the hotel business purchasing the Howard Johnson Express Inn, giving Delaware Hotel Group their first property to manage. In 2004 the company added its second property in York, Pennsylvania – the Best Western Westgate Inn. In quick succession the number of properties either owned and/or operated by Delaware Hotel Group has grown from it’s first property to 8 properties located in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, with many new projects on the horizon. In 2007 Mike proved with hard work and dedication dreams do come true when he acquired the Hampton Inn Cherry Hill/Voorhees his eighth property. Mike is a proud resident of Voorhees Township where he graduated from Voorhees Eastern Regional High School and went on to receive an accounting degree from Drexel University. It was a dream of Mike’s to be in the hotel business and some day acquire this Hampton Inn located in his hometown.
