Working on all facets of retail recruitment and retail development in communities located in the Northern Region (Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan). Michael is passionate about working with retailers, developers, and municipalities, to build communities everyone can be proud of; where a sense of place is key, and retail serves to bring people together.
Michael has been in commercial real estate since college, when he spent his senior year as a full-time sales, leasing, and investment brokerage intern. Beginning his career at one of Birmingham, AL’s leading office and industrial brokerage firms, Michael had the opportunity to work under, and learn from, some of the region’s best tenant and landlord reps. Following his time with them, Michael joined the brokerage team at Shannon Waltchack in 2019 as a Junior Associate, and after a year, moved into a full Associate position where he worked on retail, investment, multifamily, office, and industrial deals across the country. With a focus on retail, investment, and site acquisition/disposition, Michael had the opportunity to work with a number of the nation’s biggest and most sophisticated developers, landlords, and investors on deals across the country but with a particular focus on the southeast and mid-Atlantic. Michael is an expert on the pre-development process and has written numerous blogs/articles on related topics. Michael is also a member of numerous professional organizations including: ICSC, CCIM, ULI, and the US Green Building Council.
