Michael Simpson is the managing broker of the Baird & Warner Algonquin office. With 19 years of experience in the real estate industry, he first obtained his broker license in 2001 and later acquired his managing broker license in 2004. Initially starting his career in the Algonquin market, he later joined Baird & Warner Carpentersville in 2002. In 2005, Simpson founded Lifestyles Real Estate Inc (formerly Realty World Fox Valley Inc) before rejoining Baird & Warner in 2017.
At a local level, Michael serves as the Immediate Past President for the Realtor Association of Fox Valley. He completed the Illinois Realtors Leadership Development Program in 2017 and actively participates in various Illinois Realtors Committees, including Realtor Political Involvement, Audit, and Nominating. Additionally, Michael is the Illinois Realtors State Legislative Contact for Illinois Senator Donald DeWitt. Beyond the real estate industry, he also contributes to the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Prior to his real estate career, Simpson spent 23 years in the international transportation and logistics business. Starting from an entry-level position, he eventually became the Executive Vice President of Operations for a multinational firm headquartered in Chicago. During this time, he worked in various states across the U.S., including Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, California, Connecticut, and Illinois. He also traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia to support corporate clients and international agent networks. Although he is no longer active in the business, Simpson still holds a U.S. Customs Broker license.
Michael graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science and became a licensed Embalmer/Funeral Director at the age of 21. He practiced in North Carolina before relocating to Florida. Married to his wife, Dianne, for 34 years, they have three adult children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They have lived in their current home in Cary since 1990. In his free time, Michael is a passionate North Carolina Tar Heels fan, a proficient guitar player, and an enthusiast of various music genres. He also enjoys exploring different parts of the world and indulging in a good novel.
