Mike Nelson specializes in commercial property sales ranging in product class from unimproved land, ground up development, commercial and industrial buildings. He has in-depth experience in complex real estate transactions for investment-grade, income-producing assets and landlord representation in both sales and leasing. Mike develops and manages new and existing client relationships and creates marketing strategies that ensure that clients’ objectives are maximized. Utilizing his extensive market knowledge, Mike develops strategic plans for the disposition and acquisition of assets. His thorough understanding of banking and capital markets is invaluable in assisting clients with complex transaction financing.
Mike founded and Nelson Hill in Chicago and was among the top industrial infill brokerage companies in the City of Chicago. Prior to Nelson Hill, Mike worked as a commercial real estate broker since 2004 at Paine Wetzel ONCOR International. He works with property owners, tenants, developers and institutions. By gaining an in depth knowledge of his clients’ challenges, Mike provides a full service, entrepreneurial approach which utilizes the best in class technology and resources to enable his clients to achieve the best possible results in the shortest possible time period. In addition, Mike has extensive experience with adaptive reuse of properties. His responsibilities have included conducting sealed bid auctions, identifying qualified developers and preparing feasibility reports on such issues as zoning, physical due diligence and financing.
NelsonHill was awarded “Broker of Year 2011” by SomerCor, for their outstanding SBA Loan production. Mike is a member of the Board of Directors for SomerCor in 2012.
Mike holds a business degree from the University of Natal, South Africa where he doubled majored in Marketing and Management. Prior to real estate Mike worked in corporate advertising where he was responsible for advertising campaigns and product positioning.
