Bio
Michael Glanzberg is a Principal of Sinvin, having joined the company in 2007 as its Managing Director and General Counsel.
A Principal since 2009, Glanzberg deploys deal-making skills honed as a litigator to the complexities of clients’ commercial transactions. As Sinvin’s Managing Partner, Glanzberg oversees the firm’s operation as well as its strategic growth and acquisitions.
Glanzberg’s forte is deep and insightful collaboration with clients. He advises brands and ownership on retail and tenanting strategies in an increasingly complex landscape. Notable executions range from the local to the institutional:
Glanzberg handles national retail rollouts, including Victorinox Swiss Army’s North American portfolio from New York to Toronto to Los Angeles.
Pre IPO, Glanzberg was engaged by the wireless speaker and streaming giant, Sonos, to advise the brand on corporate-owned retail strategy in the US and retail programming and activation. Together with Sinvin, Sonos competed successfully to secure a highly sought-after Manhattan location where it opened its global retail flagship, creating one of the most notable and acclaimed experiential retail environments.
As a consultant to Triple 5, owner of Mall of America, Glanzberg provided leasing support and merchandising strategy for the firm’s development of the $5 billion-dollar American Dream.
Representing ownership and the long-term lessor, Glanzberg completed the 49 year triple net lease of SoHo’s majestic 453 Broome to Crown Acquisitions, paving the way to bring the asset to full occupancy and an extraordinary restoration.
As landlord’s exclusive agent, Glanzberg negotiated a complex transaction opposite Google for their first and only retail store in New York City. Google subsequently retained Glanzberg for the subleasing and disposition of their retail leasehold interests from New York to San Francisco.
Glanzberg serves as the President of the Cooperative of 121 Varick Street, directing the redevelopment of a prime Hudson Square commercial asset.
Glanzberg is a graduate of the Berkshire School, from which he is a co-alumnus with Sinvin co-owner, Principal Christopher Owles. Glanzberg has a B.A. from Union College, a J.D. from Vermont Law School, is a member of REBNY, and a member of the bar in New York, California, and Washington D.C.
