Melissa Hemberger joined the Chicago office of Avison Young in July 2020 with the firm’s office brokerage division where she focuses on agency leasing and advisory work for her clients. Melissa specializes in assisting multi-tenant office building owners and tenants in maximizing their real estate value through innovative leasing strategies. Melissa has worked on several complex transactions and assignments and has worked on the leasing of some of the city’s most recognizable new economy buildings, including leasing 20 West Kinzie.
Immediately prior to working at Avison Young, Mrs. Hemberger was a senior associate of leasing services at Newmark Knight Frank. Her primary responsibilities included agency leasing and marketing properties in Chicago.
Prior to joining NKF, Mrs. Hemberger was an advisor at Op2mize Energy and Real Estate, a commercial real estate firm that bundled real estate services with best practices in energy efficiency and technology. She has significant experience in energy consulting and sales for all asset classes and tenants from A-class office buildings to large-scale manufacturing. Working with both electricity and natural gas, Mrs. Hemberger consistently created energy solutions for specific customer needs that decreased overhead costs and mitigated risk.
Mrs. Hemberger is a LEED GA as well as a member of the Young Real Estate Professionals. An active member of the community, she volunteers at Make-A-Wish Illinois and PAWS Chicago. Mrs. Hemberger was the winner of the Newmark Knight Frank Rising Star award in 2014.
