Matthew F. Holmes (Matt), Co-founder and serves as Principal of Retail West Inc. Mr. Holmes has been involved with retail commercial real estate since 1990 and has participated in over 350 transactions since that time. For the first ten years of his career, Mr. Holmes was affiliated with Epsteen & Associates, a boutique retail real estate brokerage with three offices in California, serving as principal partner & co-owner of the San Francisco office. Over that period, Mr. Holmes and his firm exclusively represented some of the nation's most dynamic retail chains, including Starbucks Coffee, Williams Sonoma, Inc., Kinko's Copies, Chili's Restaurants (Brinker International), Petco Animal Supplies, Whole Foods Markets and a bevy of lesser known, aspiring, young retail chains. Mr. Holmes' former partner, Michael Epsteen, is the founder of the nation's most elite network of retail brokers, Chain Links. In addition to his extensive tenant representation business, Mr. Holmes has experience as both a broker and principal in the development and repositioning of several high profile shopping centers and urban retail redevelopments. As a means to further broaden the depth of Epsteen & Associates' project-oriented endeavors, Mr. Holmes and Mr. Epsteen completed the sale of their San Francisco office to San Francisco based Terranomics Retail Services. Terranomics Retail Services has been in business for 30 years, and has nine offices in the Bay Area through its affiliation with its parent company, BT Commercial. Mr. Holmes served as Vice President for Terranomics Retail Services for the past three years before creating Retail west. Mr. Holmes is also currently involved in a public/private partnership project with the City of Oakland, BART and the Creative Housing Association on the redevelopment of the MacArthur BART Station in downtown Oakland, CA. Mr. Holmes is a San Francisco resident and is involved with numerous non-profit based organizations. He currently is actively involved with Meals On Wheels and Camp Okizu's Karma For Kids program in addition he has served on the community board of advisors for UCSF's Aids Health Project. He is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and a member of the Congress for New Urbanism.
