Matthew is a seasoned apartment broker specializing in the sale and acquisition of apartment and mixed-use buildings in San Francisco.
With more over 30 years working in multifamily housing, he has detailed knowledge of all facets of the local housing market, including economic trends, rent control, financing, leasing and management. Matthew works closely with clients, advising them on pre-sale preparation and navigating the cumbersome sale process, while utilizing detailed research, targeted marketing and a strong sales method.
Matthew is the founder and publisher emeritus of the SF Apartment Magazine and continues to write a regular column on apartment sales and demographic trends in San Francisco. After working in politics in San Francisco, he served as deputy director of the San Francisco Apartment Association for several years. In 1997, he established Black Point Press, a publishing house that produced trade magazines for the multifamily housing markets.
With a background steeped in marketing, Matthew focuses not just in selling buildings, but also assisting and education clients on regulations, strategies and trends. He regularly hosts webinars and seminars with guest speakers discussing different facets of the industry. And Each quarter, he updates owners and investors with sales data and news with the SF Market Report. He also co-hosts the monthly roundtable for San Francisco multifamily brokers.
A city resident for over 30 years, he lives in the Inner Richmond with his wife and two children. He is an avid rower and open-water swimmer and is a life member at the Dolphin Swimming and Boating Club. Matthew graduated from the University of Oregon with a B.S. in political science. A licensed California real estate agent for over 20 years, Matthew is an active member of SFAA and SPUR. He has served on the board of directors of SPEAK and is an active member of SFAR Forms Committee
