Bio
Laurel was born and raised in a family of realtors, and she has been surrounded by the industry for most of her life. As the daughter of a broker/owner, she took to heart the way her father treated his clients and every person he came into contact with, and it shaped her vision of how she conducts herself and her business. Just like her father, her approach to business is with comfort, kindness, and a listening ear. Her drive, ability to provide direction and strong negotiation skills give her clients the best possible real estate experience, like having a family member in the business.
After graduating Cum Laude from UGA, Laurel's marketing background took her to South Florida where she worked in various roles adjacent to the real estate market before getting her real estate license. She has worked on major projects that involved resort and home site sales in Florida, South Carolina, and the Bahamas. Her background in diverse markets gives her a unique edge as a real estate agent. Laurel moved to Birmingham in 2010, drawn to its energy and participated in the growing foodie scene. After pursuing a career in wine sales (because why not sell something you love?), she followed her heart back to real estate, combining sales with another subject that she is incredibly passionate about, and her clients followed! The idea of being able to show clients that they can attain their dream home is Laurel's favorite part of the job. She loves being a resource for every step of the process and homeownership. It's all about the relationships - which she maintains with her clients well after the transaction.
In addition to real estate, Laurel is a pilates instructor at Mpower Pilates + Cycle, is passionate about health and wellness, and loves to travel. She and her husband, JT Mckissack, live in Crestwood with their two pups Rex and Trooper. They love exploring the excellent Birmingham restaurant scene, hiking, doing yard work, and gathering with friends and family to cook and entertain at home
