Kris Callen founded Portal Realty in late 2015 with the objective of becoming a cutting edge full-service real estate brokerage with a focus on service both through building personal relationships with each and every customer, and by offering the highest level of technology and marketing capabilities available. He has made Gainesville Florida his home since 2002, and has invested in a few homes and several investment properties in the area.
Kris spent over 10 years successfully managing hotels in Miami, Central FL, and Gainesville backed by a degree in Hotel Management from Florida International University, which included the management of both hotel/restaurant operations and commercial units. Kris then transitioned into real estate sales in 2003, and quickly became involved in high caliber commercial real estate transactions. In 2005, he was named Trustee of a multi-million dollar private investment trust that included properties in both NY and FL.
After successfully re-investing the real estate assets of the trust into high performing multi-family investments in FL, and after brief stints with Gainesville area brokerage and commercial management firms, he obtained his broker’s license and decided to develop a concept for a hybrid brokerage firm that could offer the highest level of customer service possible while delivering the marketing power of the bigger brokerage franchises. His extensive customer service, management, and sales background as well as his passion for community and innovation, were all placed into developing Portal Realty.
