Bio
Katie has been around Real Estate her entire life being the daughter of Tim Gilmartin. She started her career at The Gilmartin Group by working during the summers since she was 8 years old putting labels on mailers, passing out fliers and answering phones as she got older as well as visiting Open Houses over the weekends and listening to the family talk about the market. After graduating from Santa Clara University in 2009 with a degree in Communications, she pursued her passion for cooking and attended the City College of San Francisco Culinary program. This amazing program taught her that cooking was what she liked to do but what she was really good at was customer service and collaborating with people. She worked in a few restaurants and a high-end hotel both as a server and manager before she decided that she wanted to finally join the family business and try out Real Estate. The practice received in the customer service industry as well as learning about assorted styles of Communication from her degree has really helped Katie be able to connect with clients and provide them with the service that they need. One of Katie's strong suits is the ability to communicate with different people while managing diverse personalities. It is her goal to make all parties involved in her transactions feel at ease through communicating effectively, taking action quickly and being available. Katie has a personality that draws people in and makes them feel comfortable. Katie was married in September 2013 to her high school sweetheart. She and her husband, Bob, met on the pool deck of their freshman year; they both enjoyed the sports of swimming and water polo. Katie enjoys going on hikes in Brisbane up the San Bruno Mountain with her dog and husband. She also likes going on road trips/traveling, being outdoors/camping, swimming, cooking, and spending time with her family. Since 2013 Katie has been a full time Agent who has helped both buyers and sellers throughout the Peninsula attain their goals. When working with buyers she has learned how to keep buyers focused on their goal because it sometimes will take multiple offers before buyers find their dream home in this market. Katie also knows how important it is to help educate first time buyers through the process from beginning to end: steering them in the direction of getting a pre-approval, finding the right home, coaching on price, going through the purchase contract, explaining the next steps once an offer gets accepted, making sure closing costs are taken into account and finally signing the closing documents. When working with sellers Katie takes a personal approach to find out the reason for selling in order to create the right timeline. She guides sellers in what they should do to get the property ready for the market and helps with the process by getting the right crew for each project whether it is as simple as cleaning and staging or as intricate as remodeling, painting, staging and everything in between. Katie has also had the pleasure of helping sellers with 1031 exchanges and working with tenant occupied properties. In the end, Katie is willing to go above and beyond to make the experience for all her clients as stress free as possible as it is a very emotional process. She continues to set higher goals for herself every year to serve her clients and complete more and more transactions. Katie also strives to accomplish and exceed your expectations of a Real Estate professional.
