Julia Matsuura is a Senior Associate in the Retail Services Division within the Colliers International’s Honolulu Office.
Julia’s primary focus is on Landlord and Tenant Representation in Waikiki, urban high streets, resort centers and regional malls. Her most recent transactions in Waikiki include: The Blue Note Jazz Club at the Outrigger Waikiki, The Waikiki Beach Walk® (the largest development project ever to be undertaken in Waikiki with a total cost of $535 million); 280 Beach Walk (34,500 sf of GLA) including Bills Waikiki, Akakura and Le Blanc, and The Hyatt Shops Waikiki (90,000 sf of GLA).
Julia is also the current Director of Leasing for Ka Makana Ali`i the center for west Oahu, which is the first regional mall to be developed in Hawaii in over 30 years. (1,400,000 sf of GLA).
In addition to this Julia handled the leasing for The Shops at Wailea, Maui’s premiere shopping and dining resort center (161,641 sf of GLA), her most recent transactions include: Prada, Quicksilver (flagship expansion), Rip Curl, Honolulu Cookie and Hawaii Life Real Estate on the island of Maui. The Kukui Grove Center and the Kukui Marketplace (457,062 sf of GLA) and The Shops at Kukui`ula, A&B Properties resort center located in Poipu, Kauai (86,908 sf of GLA) on the island of Kauai.
Julia develops targeted strategies using her intimate knowledge of Hawaii’s real estate market and research and analyses to achieve optimal deal structures and scenarios for each of her clients. Julia’s specialty is in facilitating with roll out strategies for new to market concepts, developing merchandising strategies and her eye for retail and fashion.
Her attention to detail has consistently provided her clients with the best in class service.
BUSINESS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Prior to joining Colliers International, Mrs. Matsuura worked at CBRE Inc. In 2008 Julia joined CBRE as a Marketing Specialist/ Project Administrator in Retail Brokerage Services. Julia worked closely with her team assisting in the day to day interaction with clients, implementation of business marketing strategies, designing marketing materials and developing and maintaining prospecting databases. In 2009 Julia transferred into brokerage where she was a part of the Urban Retail Group focusing on Waikiki, resorts markets and regional malls.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Mrs. Matsuura is engaged with numerous non-profit organizations within the State of Hawaii. She is active in the Waikiki Community Center (WCC), and has sat on their board for the past 3 years as a part of the event committee for the Waikiki Community Center’s annual gala event, Na Mea Makamae o Waikiki and the Kapiolani Health Foundation.
