Bio
Jon W. Spelman, CCIM, is owner of Jon W. Spelman Company. Having received his real estate license in 1974, Mr. Spelman has used his varied engineering and management background to successfully serve many national clients in the Central Texas Area. Prior to his real estate career, Mr. Spelman was Vice-President of Marketing for a national retail chain and before that was President of a small electronics firm in Houston.
Jon Spelman has lived in Waco since 1971, is married and has three children. He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University, a Masters of Business Administration with the distinction from Northwestern University and is a CCIM, Certified Commercial Investment Member, a designation granted by the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. Mr. Spelman is a former Director of the Waco Board of Realtors, Director and President of the Heart of Texas Apartment Association and Commissioner and Chairman in the City of Waco Parks and Recreation Board. He has served his community as Past Chairman of Community Cancer Association, Charter Member of Central Texas Venture Capital Group and Chairman of Waco Chamber of Commerce Technology Task Force. He has also been on various boards including Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Waco Library Foundation and First United Methodist Scholarship Fund.
Jon Spelman served as President of Texas Property Exchangors in 1992, Governor on Texas Association of Realtors {TAR} Commercial Investment Division for three years and in 1995, served as Chairman of the Board of Governors. Jon has served as TAR/CID Technology Chairman and been a member of the TAR Executive Committee and a member of the TAR Legislative Committee.
Jon Spelman has been honored by the Waco Association of Realtors as Salesman of the Year in 1982 and Realtor of the Year in 1996. Furthermore, the Texas Association of Realtors chose a negotiation between Jon Spelman and Henry Lucas Company of Dallas as the most outstanding commercial real estate transaction in Texas for 1996. For this accomplishment, they were awarded the “William C. Jennings” Lone Star Trophy.
