John Weatherby serves as a senior managing director in the San Mateo office of Newmark, where he specializes in office/R&D and industrial/warehouse sales to owners/users and land sales to developers.
Mr. Weatherby focuses on the Peninsula and East Bay markets, particularly the Mid-Peninsula area from Brisbane to Mountain View and the East Bay and South Bay industrial areas. He also has considerable experience in the Central Valley, Livermore, Solano County and Napa County industrial markets. Mr. Weatherby has completed transactions from 1,500 square feet to more than 400,000 square feet. Over the past 26 years, Mr. Weatherby has leased or sold more than 8.6 million square feet of property, having a total consideration in excess of $547 million.
Mr. Weatherby joined Newmark in 1992, bringing with him more than five years of experience in another brokerage firm. After four years with Southern Pacific Industrial Development Company, Mr. Weatherby operated his own brokerage company in Fresno for eight years. Mr. Weatherby is experienced in all phases of industrial, office and land brokerage and has been involved in land sales totaling more than 16,000 acres since the start of his career.
Mr. Weatherby has been a top performer in the San Mateo office for the past 12 years. He secured the number one and number two spots in the office from 1996 to 1998 and held the number nine spot companywide in 1998. He ranked third in the San Mateo office in 2002, 2003 and 2005 and fourth in 2006 and 2010. Mr. Weatherby brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and negotiating skills to any real estate transaction and is noted for his pleasing and persistent sales approach along with his enthusiasm for completing projects to ensure that his clients achieve the best possible transaction terms.
Prior to his real estate career, Mr. Weatherby served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 through 1973, which included 13 months in Southeast Asia. He also served as a crew commander of a Titan II ICBM at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas.
