John D. Ryan, III joined Avison Young in 2013 and is a Principal in the New York office and part of the Transaction Services team focusing on Tenant and Landlord Representation. Mr. Ryan has over 25 years of New York real estate experience providing strategic and implementation services for clients developing and executing real estate occupancy transactions. He has performed transactions throughout the United States including city master plans and build-to-suit projects. Mr. Ryan has completed some of the largest deals concluded in Midtown including a 1.5 million rsf lease and joint venture at One Bryant Park for Bank of America as well as the first lease at 1 World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) on behalf of China Center. Prior to Avison Young, Mr. Ryan was a Managing Director for Jones Lang LaSalle’s Tenant Representation Group in New York for 19 years in which he managed a group of Tenant Representation professionals. In addition, he acted as the Landlord’s leasing agent for various institutional investors. Prior to JLL, Mr. Ryan worked as the Director of Leasing at Compass Management and Leasing, with leasing responsibility for the Equitable Life real estate portfolio for the tri-state area consisting of over 8 million square feet. Mr. Ryan was also an Asset Manager for Sumitomo Realty & Development overseeing their Northeast portfolio and previously he was a real estate broker for Grubb & Ellis in New York. Mr. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Policy and Management Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from New York University, Stern School of Business. He is a licensed real estate broker in the State of New York and a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.
