John graduated from Aliceville High School in Aliceville, Al. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from Auburn University. He worked for Westinghouse Electric in Athens, GA for 17 years, also working in Pittsburgh, PA and Atlanta. He is past chairman and CEO of the Atlanta Electronic Commerce Forum. John is a current member and Elder of the Carrollton Presbyterian Church. He has been married to his wife Nancy for 33 years, has four children and four grandchildren. John resides in Villa Rica with his wife and two grandchildren.
