John M. Kimball, a licensed commercial real estate broker, not only serves the traditional role of the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), but he also excels as the company’s Chief Entrepreneurial Officer. John has an intuitive business sense and a long and successful track record of finding real estate investments that offer unrealized potential.
John has been actively involved in every aspect of the company since 1984. Shortly after coming to the company full-time in 1987, he helped create a customized software program to support the company’s property management division. He also helped create the company’s property maintenance division in order to provide even better service for the properties The Kimball Group manages. In 1989, John formed the company’s development arm, which has grown substantially through the years.
John is somewhat of a throwback: rugged, independent, brutally honest – he’s as much at home camping in the wilderness in Vermont as he is in the chief executive’s chair. It's not uncommon for John to find investment properties by taking a walk (pictured above) or talking with people at the local market. While most people invest reactively, based on past and current condition in the market, John prides himself on investing proactively, based on where he thinks the market is headed. He shares this philosophy with other members of the Kimball Group. This helps explain why The Kimball Group invested in communities like Bridgeport, Monroe, Trumbull, New Haven, Milford, Newtown and Easton long before others. It also helps explain why the company is now so heavily investing in Monroe and Lisbon.
John holds a Connecticut real estate broker’s license and belongs to the Building Owners and Manager’s Association (BOMA). He is also a member of the Commercial Investment Division (CID) of the Connecticut Association of Realtors.
John, a resident of Monroe, graduated with honors from Babson College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in entrepreneurial studies. John is also a graduate of the Northfield Mount Hermon School.
