John B. George joined Republic Engineered Products in December 2003 after serving as vice president, purchasing for Republic's predecessor company since February 2003. Previously, he was vice president of finance and treasurer.
George began his career with Republic Steel Corporation in 1969 as an accounting trainee and progressed to district cost accountant. From 1985 to 1989, George was manager of financial analysis for LTV Steel's Bar Division. In 1989, LTV sold the bar division of the company and Republic Engineered Steels was created. George was named assistant treasurer in 1989 and Treasurer in 1992. In March 1997, he was named controller of the company's Cold Finished Bar Division, responsible for banking relationships and administration, debt negotiation and compliance, risk management, investor relations, ESOP administration, investment committees, pension plans and division accounting. In September 1998, George was named vice president and treasurer.
George has served as controller for the Cold Finished Steel Bar Institute since March 1997, and is a member of the Treasury Management Association and the Cleveland Treasurers' Club. George served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1971, with service in Vietnam. He holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Dyke College.
