John DeGroot is Research Director at Newmark, He is responsible for overseeing extensive data collection, verification, tracking and analysis via internal and external sources for the Metro Detroit office and industrial markets. He has written over 100 quarterly market reports that focus on Metro Detroit’s economy and trends in the industrial and office markets. In addition, Mr. DeGroot has published reports detailing trends in speculative construction and supply/demand dynamics in the Class A bulk warehouse market. Mr. DeGroot is also responsible for analyzing real estate transactions from both a financial and accounting perspective. Prior to joining Newmark, he graduated from Michigan State University’s James Madison College with a degree in political economy. After graduating, he worked for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a research assistant tracking emerging high-technology companies and researching venture capital firms.
