John is based in Toronto and is dedicated to implementing a multi-faceted strategy to grow Canada’s Retail platform at Cushman & Wakefield, including expanding the tenant representation and agency leasing businesses. John focuses on building a solid platform foundation for retail to meets today’s demands and tomorrow’s requirements of this ever-revolving sector. Primary responsibilities includes the development of meaningful thought leadership and expertise-based practice groups to elevate our platform in the marketplace and to position C&W’s retail services and experts at the forefront of the industry. Additionally, John collaborates with the Global RBC team to provide leadership and oversight in identifying and acquiring new retail branch locations for this significant Cushman & Wakefield's Global Occupier Services client. Prior to joining C&W, John worked with Triovest Realty Advisors 4 years and had accountability for strategic business growth and value enhancement of the company’s managed retail properties across Canada as well as focusing efforts on identifying new opportunities for leasing, property management, asset management, investment and development assignments within retail. John headed up the retailer relationships across the country and worked closely with the national leasing group and asset management teams at Triovest to develop effective strategies and marketing campaigns to promote its real estate assets and to enhance property values on behalf of clients. John’s real estate career started in 1986 in Toronto with Royal LePage Commercial. From 1994 to 1998, he was Director of Leasing for Oxford Properties Group and in 1998, he rejoined Royal LePage Commercial as Vice President and General Manager. Returning to Toronto in 2000 as Senior Managing Director of its Brokerage Services, managing over 75 people in the Toronto Suburban Operations for Cushman & Wakefield until 2010 when he became responsible for providing strategic direction and developing national and international sales and brokerage opportunities for Cushman & Wakefield’s Canadian retail business lin
