As President of CityRetail Mr. Baerkahn directs the lease-up of over 100,000 square feet of retail space in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA for clients including BioMed Realty Trust, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Principal Global Investors and MIT. He negotiates leases on behalf of landlords and sources local and regional retailers. He works with neighborhood organizations, banks, local corporations and government agencies on financing and development issues to complete these retail transactions. As co-managing partner of Hot Bread Entertainment Group Mr. Baerkahn serves as business manager to Sosolimited, a world-renowned audiovisual artist group based in Cambridge, MA.
Mr. Baerkahn is a highly successful entrepreneur and attorney admitted to both the MA and NY Bars. From 2006 to 2009 he ran his own firm providing legal and consulting services to small businesses and non-profit organizations. Clients consisted primarily of restaurants, retailers, artists, real estate developers and community economic development corporations. He has represented entrepreneurs in the business start-up phase, commercial lease transactions and provided conflict resolution in the areas of debt collection, business and real estate law.
As Principal of Baer Solutions from 2002 to 2006 Jesse developed a small business workshop for the City of Boston’s 19 Main Street programs, implemented a marketing and outreach plan for Watermark Cambridge luxury apartments, worked for the Daily Jolt Inc., a first generation social networking website, and consulted with dozens of small businesses throughout Metro-Boston, advising on issues related to sales, marketing and business planning. In 2005 he co-founded Broadway Realty Partners LLC in Cambridge MA, a full service real estate brokerage company.
Mr. Baerkahn received his JD from Northeastern University School of Law, during which time he clerked for two law firms and a Federal Judge. He received his BA from the University of Wisconsin.
