Bio
Jennifer Kirtlan grew up in the Sacramento Delta, the oldest of four children. When I was thirteen months old, my mother had twin boys. Perhaps growing up neck and neck with the boys explains her competitive streak. She is very energetic and driven: her sister says she has FOMO disease – Fear of Missing Out. She also tended to try to live up to others’ expectations of her: She excelled at sports growing up and was preparing to play softball at Sacramento City College when she suddenly realized she was doing what was expected of her, not what she wanted to do. Jennifer decided to skip softball and began shifting that pattern in her life. After attending City College, she spent some time as a project manager – and while she loved the work, over time Jennifer came to realize that she needed a change. She saw an ad for real estate training, and it dawned on her – THAT was what she wanted to do. In 2003, Jennifer earned her real estate license, and she has been doing it ever since.
As she began her real estate career, Jennifer was feeling empowered: she had a vision for her career and was ready to move forward and prove herself. Her opportunity came with a local house that was getting ready to come on the market. She was one of three agents that were being considered to list the home. The other two agents wanted to list the property at $850,000. She decided to visit the home and study its potential. With her training in staging properties, Jennifer was able to suggest improvements to the property that would allow it to list higher. On that basis, Jennifer was selected. In the end, her clients received multiple offers, and the final sale price was over $1.2 million!
Real estate intrigues her because she comes from a family that has been attached to the land for six generations. Her great-great-great grandfather purchased land in Clarksburg and started farming. Jennifer grew up on a ranch, and farming created such a sense of place for her family. As she delved increasingly into real estate, Jennifer realized another reason she enjoyed it so much—real estate was just a unique way for people to continue to belong to the land and to benefit from it.
Jennifer loves that her work allows her to fulfill that part of her that wants to help people. She has a real “can do” attitude and helps clients with everything from starter homes to million-dollar estates to relocations out of state. At one point, Jennifer was helping an out-of-state homeowner with a sale, and five days before closing the buyer requested some minor repairs to a smoke detector. She called in a contractor friend, and they got the repairs done. She has people around her that clients can rely on.
When it comes time for you to buy or sell, Jennifer would love nothing more than to lend her knowledge and experience to help you. But she does not expect your business simply because of the relationship—She only asks that you take the time to interview her and see if she might be the best agent for you. Buying or selling real estate is often an enormously important transaction, and the representation you receive from your agent can significantly impact your results.
You need to choose the person who will do the best job for you, and who is the right fit for your needs. Jennifer has worked hard as a professional to be able to provide the highest level of service, so she might be an excellent choice for you. Jennifer wants you to know that if you do not choose her, she will never be upset. But if you do, she promises to work diligently to exceed your expectations.
