Jeff Sutton is the Founder and President of Wharton Properties, a commercial real estate company. Over the past 20 years, Mr.Sutton has amassed over 115 properties in prime locations throughout New York City. Mr. Sutton's most notable acquisitions include his purchase of 717 Fifth Avenue, 720 Fifth Avenue, 724 Fifth Ave, 609 Fifth Avenue, the former Valentino at 747 Madison Ave, the Howard Johnson's at 1551 Broadway and the TGIF at 1552 Broadway in Times Square, 599 Broadway in Soho and the development site at the northwest corner of 42nd & 8th Avenue across from the Port Authority.
One of Mr.Sutton's primary assets is his strong relationship with triple-A national retail chains, which he has placed in almost all of his properties. Mr.Sutton's persistence in securing American Girl Place as the retail tenant at 609 Fifth Avenue led to winning The Real Estate Board of New York's award for "Most Creative Deal of the Year" in June of 2003. In August 2004, Mr.Sutton signed a lease with Abercrombie & Fitch for their flagship store at 720 Fifth Avenue. In April 2006, Jeff signed a lease for a three level Apple mega store at 21-25 West 34th Street. In May 2007, Jeff bought out Hugo Boss at 717 Fifth Avenue and signed a $200 million lease with Giorgio Armani for its worldwide flagship store. In December 2007, Mr.Sutton signed an historic lease for $300 million with American Eagle Outfitters at 1551 Broadway in Times Square. In February 2008, Mr.Sutton signed a long term lease for control of the SoHo International Art Building at 599 Broadway, the "Gateway to SoHo". In December of 2009, Mr.Sutton signed a lease for $120 million with American Eagle Outfitters for the basement, first floor and second floor of 599 Broadway. In July of 2011 Mr.Sutton signed another record breaking lease with Dolce Gabbana for over a quarter of a billion dollars for the former Escada space at 717 Fifth Ave. In May 2012, Mr.Sutton signed a record $350 million lease with Express at 1552 Broadway in Times Square. In October, Mr.Sutton signed a game changing lease bringing Whole Foods to Harlem at his property on the corner of 125th & Lenox.
In addition, Mr.Sutton owns the buildings that house American Eagle's flagship store at 40 West 34th St. (across from Macy's 34th St.), Aldo's flagship store at 27 West 34th St. and Aeropostale's new stores at 15 West 34th St. and 474 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, and the lease at 1515 Broadway in Times Square. Mr.Sutton has also jointly developed 2700 Broadway with Columbia University on the Upper West side of Manhattan. Mr.Sutton has recently completed several high profile deals at 141 Fifth Avenue, the Ralph Lauren building at 379 West Broadway, 27-29 West 34th Street and the development site at 180-182 Broadway.
Mr.Sutton graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr.Sutton donates much of his time and money to many charities and is actively involved with the youth of his community through organizations such as S.A.F.E. (Stopping Addiction Family Education) and S.P.A.R.K. (Strengthening Pride and Reinforcing Kindness).
