Bio
Jason began his career in the real estate industry in 1995 as a construction manager for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. While there he worked on a number of high profile retail and entertainment projects, including the 1.7 million square foot Ontario Mills Mall and the renovation of Tomorrowland at Disneyland. With a desire to transition to the development side of things, Jason obtained an MBA from UC Irvine in 2000 with a focus on real estate and finance. Following graduation, Jason was recruited by Hammes Company, the nation’s largest healthcare facility development firm. While with Hammes Company for almost 7 years, Jason gained invaluable experience working on strategic planning, master facility planning, medical office building, and real estate advisory projects for their health system and hospital clients. His success at Hammes Company culminated with running the West Coast Regional office for the company and an opportunity to become a partner in the firm. Jason elected not to continue on that path, but instead to start Strategic Medical Properties (SMP). Jason founded SMP in January 2007 and then solidified the future of the company later that year by joining forces with his good friend, graduate school classmate, and former co-worker Bryce Stafford. Since 2007, Jason has been involved in the development of 125,000 square feet of wellness center and medical office space and has been involved in numerous consulting, real estate advisory, and brokerage projects, all in the healthcare niche.
On a personal note, Jason has been married since 1996 and has three daughters. He and his wife Missy met while both attending college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. When not working, Jason will most likely be found hanging out with Missy and the girls, coaching soccer, surfing, or watching sports.
