James de Winter has 30 years of commercial real estate brokerage experience, working in both U.S. and international markets. In 2009, Mr. de Winter became CBRE’s Director of Real Estate–Caribbean, focusing on advisory and brokerage services for all types of commercial properties throughout the Caribbean.
Mr. de Winter first came to CBRE in 1999 as Director of the Retail Services Division, Latin America & the Caribbean, bringing his expertise in providing transaction and consulting services in these markets to the firm.
Prior to joining CBRE, in 1996, Mr. de Winter founded Dorset International Realty Inc., a real estate brokerage firm specializing in Caribbean markets. Having traveled to the region for more than 16 years—witnessing the growth and importance of tourism, its economic impact and the increasing opportunity for commercial businesses and development—Mr. de Winter recognized the need for a firm that could represent international companies seeking expansion or investment in the Caribbean, as well as companies and property owners with existing interests in the region. Dorset became the leading commercial real estate firm working exclusively in the Caribbean and the only one that covered the entire region.
