James Bekker is director of investments in Cushman & Wakefield’s Salt Lake City office. James’ primary goal is to determine and realize each client’s immediate and future real estate strategies. Dedicated to providing the best industry service, James draws on an extensive knowledge of investment markets, market trends, and the transaction process. His experience in brokerage, property management, and multiple markets gives him an edge in identifying opportunities and addressing clients’ needs quickly and effectively.
James began his commercial real estate career as a leasing associate with Urstadt Biddle Properties, a publicly traded REIT in New York City. While there, he was one of three people responsible for leasing space in over forty different centers. He then moved to Los Angeles to join Investment Real Estate Associates (IREA), where he closed over $40 million in transactions between 2007 and 2010. During 2009 he represented the buyer for the largest hospitality deal in Los Angeles. To compliment his brokerage experience, James also managed over fifty apartment units while in Los Angeles. James then moved back to Salt Lake City where he has been involved in commercial real estate investments with Cushman & Wakefield, while continuing to play a key role with Hawthorne Capital, a private equity group owning and managing its own commercial and multi-family investments.
