Bio
Jack Barber has over twenty years experience in different aspects of the Real Estate business. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1980, Jack worked for a large residential real estate developer in Texas where he participated in all phases of development, construction and sales of residential communities throughout Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth.
Returning to Virginia in 1986, Jack worked as a project manager for a developer before venturing out on his own. For the next ten years he participated in either the development or the construction of several of the office, retail, industrial or institutional structures throughout central Virginia.
Since 1996, Jack has devoted most of his time to commercial sales in the central Virginia area. Whether dealing with the leasing or sales aspects of office, retail or warehouse properties, he has represented his clients on both sides of the negotiating table.
In addition to his local activities, he has participated in the site acquisition programs for several national retailers throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
In 1999, Jack joined Rivanna Realty & Investment Company (now CB Richard Ellis) and expanded his responsibilities by capitalizing on his previous development experience. He has taken a role in identifying income producing real estate targets and development sites, forming partnerships, acquiring properties and managing portfolios. He has acted as the development manager for his other partnerships which develop, construct, lease, and manage income-producing properties.
Most recently, Jack formed Madison Monroe Properties, a Real Estate Development company located in the Stratton building near the Wharf District in historic downtown Staunton, Virginia. Madison Monroe provides real estate investment, development and property management throughout central Virginia with properties and developments in Charlottesville, Staunton, Augusta County, Roanoke, Harrisonburg and the Central Virginia area. Current projects for Madison Monroe Properties include renovation of four historical buildings in downtown Staunton and three buildings, formerly known as Commonwealth Park Complex, in Roanoke.
In 2009, Jack joined BBR Advisors, providing professional advisory services to lenders, investors in and owners of troubled commercial real estate assets including financial institutions, pension funds, insurance companies, family offices, private and public companies as well as hedge funds to assess, manage and position these assets to achieve maximum potential value through disposition.
