Hugh J. Magee has been actively involved in the commercial real estate industry for over 45 years. Upon graduation from college in 1971, he went to work with a century-old firm tasked with appraising Jersey City Properties in the downtown waterfront area designated by the Jersey City Redevelopment Agency as part of the City’s overall redevelopment plan for the Hudson River waterfront.
Before founding his own firm he worked as a corporate real estate executive with several firms including:
A. A major New Jersey office and industrial park developer. Mr. Magee was responsible for leasing, and project management of over one million square feet of office and industrial space in Central New Jersey. During his tenure there, the developer attained a 98% occupancy factor for its properties.
B. A publicly traded restaurant company, Mr. Magee was responsible for east coast retail restaurant development. Primary activities ranged from market analysis site selection, securing of governmental permits and approvals, to marketing of the completed project to the appropriate franchisee.
C. An international manufacturing company with retail outlets throughout the United States. Mr. Magee’s responsibility was for Northeast real estate development. The primary field of activity was the New York City and the North Jersey market. However, site selection and development of the company’s retail outlets spanned the Northeast. Mr. Magee hired planners and consultants to assist in the development of retail properties throughout the New York metro area and New England. Most often a creative approach to this retail real estate development had to be taken because of environmentally sensitive and often scenic areas required a special approach in blending the new development into the older well-established community with a seamless effect.
Presently he directs his own firm Magee Realty Consultants Company assisting clients with their corporate real estate needs. Services range from market analysis, site selection, lease negotiations, construction cost budgeting, to the expediting of governmental approvals. He is currently involved with a number of people in the New Jersey area including the development of major international retailer’s site in the Monmouth market, the development of an office and industrial park in Central New Jersey and a rezoning and development of a major residential high rise site encompassing over 1.5 million square feet on the shores of the Hudson River in Hudson County, New Jersey.
Today, Mr. Magee undertakes assignments throughout the United States utilizing a nationwide network of corporate real estate executives, skilled in distinct disciplines of their respective fields resulting in projects reflecting a high quality of design and implementation. Thus, benefiting the ownership and the communities wherein the projects are developed.
