Henry Bernstein joined Scheer Partners in April 2005 after a distinguished 28-year career with the Montgomery County government, culminating with him being named Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer for the Department of Economic Development in 2000.While with Montgomery County, Mr. Bernstein successfully completed business attraction and retention projects, resulting in significant job creation and hundreds of millions of dollars of new investments in the county and state.In one of his unique roles, Mr. Bernstein became the local government’s liaison to the commercial real estate community and oversaw the development of the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center, a 300-acre life sciences/ office park owned by Montgomery County.
During his tenure at the County, Major firms and organizations he assisted with relocations and expansions included Discovery Communications, The Mills Corporation, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland and Qiagen Sciences.
Since joining Scheer’s executive team, he has managed many of the firm’s business development activities, and worked with both landlords and tenants. Projects of note include marketing the Science+Technology Park at Johns Hopkins, sale of the MdBio manufacturing facility in Baltimore, and consulting on the LifeSci Village in White Oak. Together with the Scheer team, Henry has worked with such notable clients as Novovax, Tech Council of Maryland, Opgen, Immunomic Therapeutics, and Noble Life Sciences.
