Gerson advises a wide range of nonprofit owners, including churches, synagogues, union-based organizations, state agencies, housing authorities, fraternal organizations and several others. His real estate career began in 1995, where he represented companies such as General Motors, Hertz Corporation, Diebold and Standard Federal Bank working to achieve their real estate goals throughout the Midwest. Gerson originally joined Marcus & Millichap in 1998 as multifamily broker for five years before pursuing acquisitions as a principal having acquired more than $30 million of single-family homes throughout Michigan, while managing more than 1,000 units of multifamily housing. Gerson rejoined Marcus & Millichap and became a member of AHA in 2019 and became a Marcus & Millichap Sales Recognition Award recipient in 2021. Gerson was recognized with the National Achievement Award in 2022.
Gerson is a founding member of The Young Friends of Woodward, a nonprofit focused on helping support Detroit youth. He has also sat on various boards, including the Downtown Detroit Isaac Agree Synagogue, the Woodward Avenue Shul and the Birmingham-Bloomfield Chai Center. He is a strong supporter of local VFW's in Oakland County, Michigan and other philanthropic organizations throughout the region.
